The founder

HOK KANG,Founder and Managing Director of Urbanland Investment Co., Ltd, since 2013,and Founder of Hok Kang Architects, since 2010,Co-owner and Principal Architect of Brown Coffee, since 2009.

Hailing from Phnom Penh, Hok left his home country in 2005 to pursue an education in Architecture and Entrepreneurship at the University of St. Louis in Washington.

Following his studies, Hok found employment with Kengo Kuma and Associates, a design company in Tokyo, Japan.

He returned home to Phnom Penh, where he began his own practice, winning several awards for residential and commercial developments, including Embassy Residents, Embassy Central and Raintree.


Hok leads his practice as an architect who consistently challenges the boundaries of architecture and urban design by questioning spatial concepts and keeping a curiosity towards existing landscapes, design, interiors and furniture.

Hok has been celebrated for his influential works, including the Brown Coffee chain, Toul Kork Villa and Mekong Homes, a Cambodia-based affordable housing project aimed at providing dignified living opportunities for Cambodians living in rural areas.

Parallel to his private practice, Hok has remained involved in property development, through his involvement as Founder and Managing Director of Urbanland.

Hok believes in listening to Phnom Penh's needs and in responding with creativity. In designing high-quality spaces with excellent investment opportunity. Spaces that inspire. Spaces that are committed to the Kingdom, its people and its future.
